• Bow hunting shall be permitted only on alienated land.

(2)  No person shall use for the purposes of bow hunting:

(a)  any type of crossbow;

(b) an arrow to which any drug or chemical has been applied to incapacitate or kill animals;

(c) an arrow to which an arrowhead capable of exploding has been attached;

(d) any broadhead other than a permitted broadhead.

(3) No person shall hunt with a bow any crocodile or animal specified in Part A of the Third Schedule. (Thick skinned, dangerous game, e.g. buffalo, elephant, hippo.)

(4) A person who hunts with a bow

• Any animal specified in Part B of the Third Schedule, shall use a bow with a draw weight of not less than thirty-five kilograms and an arrow weighing not less than forty-five grams with a permitted broadhead consisting of only two cutting edges and constructed of steel; (Thin skinned, dangerous, big/heavy game, e.g. eland, giraffe, lion)
• Any animal specified in Part C of the Third Schedule shall use a bow with a draw weight of not less than thirty-two kilograms and an arrow weighing not less than forty grams with a permitted broadhead; (General big game, e.g. blesbok, hartebeest, spotted hyena, leopard, nyala, sable, kudu, waterbuck, wildebeest, zebra)
• Any animal specified in Part D of the Third Schedule shall use a bow with a draw weight of not less than twenty-five kilograms and an arrow weighing not less than thirty grams with a permitted broadhead; (Light big game, e.g. bushbuck, bush pig, brown hyena, impala, reedbuck, sitatunga, springbuck, warthog, wild dog)
• Any bird or animal not specified in the Third Schedule shall use a bow with a draw weight of not less than twenty kilograms and an arrow weighing not less than twenty-nine grams with a permitted broadhead.
